According to the Tiger Census of 2022, the number of tigers has significantly increased in India, with a total of 3,167 tigers compared to the previous year’s survey. Modi highlighted the importance of Project Tiger in creating awareness among people to protect and preserve flora and fauna. He also emphasized the significance of tigers in Indian and tribal culture during the 50th anniversary of Project Tiger’s creation.

Vice Admiral SN Ghormade, a retired navy officer, presented the traditional bell to the latest INS Vikrant. The bell was originally placed on India’s first-built INS Vikrant aircraft carrier in 1961 and has a rich history within the country’s Navy Command. Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao, a renowned mathematician, will be awarded the 2023 International Prize in Statistics for his significant contributions to the field. Rao is a 102-year-old Indian-American who has conducted several research projects during his lifetime. His works have transformed statistical thinking and are still highly relevant in modern-day sciences. The International Prize is considered the equivalent of a Nobel Prize in Mathematics (Statistics) and acknowledges Rao’s leadership and successful professorship in various universities for over 75 years.
