Regional Symposium on Child Protection: Success of Mission Vatsalya and Juvenile Justice Act Amendments

Historic Handover: INS Kirpan Decommissioned and Transferred to Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN)
Indian Naval Ship Kirpan, after 32 years of service, has been decommissioned and handed over to Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) in Cam Ranh, Vietnam. It marks India’s first-ever offer of a fully-operational Corvette to any Friendly Foreign Country, strengthening the strategic partnership between India and Vietnam. INS Kirpan’s transfer symbolizes India’s role as the ‘Preferred Security partner’ in the Indian Ocean Region and is expected to enhance bilateral relations between the two navies.
Global Biofuels Alliance: Advancing Low-Carbon Pathways for Sustainable Energy
Special Ministerial Consultations and Recommendations on Global Biofuels Alliance were held in Goa during the Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting. Nineteen countries expressed interest in forming the alliance, emphasizing collaboration and the need for a low-carbon pathway. The establishment of the Global Biofuels Alliance was recommended to the G20 Leaders by Energy Ministers.

Italy unveils “V.C Yeshwant Ghadge Sundial Memorial” in Montone to honor Indian troops’ contributions during the Second World War’s Italian Campaign. Indian Soldiers played a central role, with 50,000 involved and six receiving Victoria Crosses. The memorial commemorates the 5,782 Indian soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice. Italy holds high reverence for their contributions.
Fast Tracking INR Payments on UPI: Sri Lanka’s Plans for Trade and Connectivity
Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, M.U.M. Ali Sabry, expects payments using Indian Rupee on UPI to take 3 months. He hopes to establish the payment interface by the year-end. Sri Lanka aims to receive payment in INR from Indian tourists due to a trade imbalance. The country also plans to enhance connectivity with South India and develop Trincomalee as an energy hub with various projects in the eastern province.
