1. Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare launches ‘YES-TECH Manual and WINDS portal’
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare recently launched the ‘YES-TECH Manual’ and the ‘WINDS portal’ in New Delhi. These initiatives are part of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and Restructured Weather-Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS). The YES-TECH Manual is a comprehensive handbook that has undergone extensive trials across 100 districts in India. The WINDS portal aims to facilitate enrollment and improve access to crop insurance for farmers. Additionally, the AIDE/Sahayak app for door-to-door enrollment was also introduced.
2. Ministry of Commerce and Industry associated with ‘National IPR Policy’
The ‘National IPR Policy 2016’ is associated with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The Intellectual Property Rights Policy Management (IPRPM) framework covers various types of intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, geographical indications, and more. This unified vision document aims to strengthen and protect intellectual property rights in India.
3. New Delhi hosts ‘National Conference On Rural WASH Partners’ Forum’
The two-day ‘National Conference on Rural Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Partners’ Forum (RWPF)’ commenced in New Delhi. The theme of the conference is ‘Accelerating Progress towards a Swachh Sujal Bharat’. The Union Minister for Jal Shakti led the conference, which aimed to discuss and strategize initiatives to improve rural water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities in the country.
4. Gujarat to inaugurate the largest office space project globally
Gujarat is all set to inaugurate the Surat Diamond Bourse, hailed as the largest office space project in a single development worldwide. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Surat Diamond Bourse, which has been designed to relocate and expand the diamond trading industry from Mumbai to Surat, a major hub for diamond cutting and polishing.
5. Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh in the news
The Gyanvapi Mosque, located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, has been in the news recently. The mosque, built by Aurangzeb in 1669, is now under scrutiny as a Varanasi court has ordered a “scientific investigation/survey/excavation” of its grounds by the Archaeological Survey of India. The purpose is to determine whether the current structure was built on the site of a pre-existing Hindu temple.
6. Byculla Railway Station wins UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award
The Byculla Railway Station has been honored with the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award of Merit for its exemplary efforts in heritage restoration and modernization. The station’s preservation and restoration have been recognized by UNESCO for their contribution to conserving the rich cultural heritage of the region.
7. IMF projects India’s GDP growth rate for 2023-2024
According to the latest report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), India’s projected Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate for the current fiscal year 2023-2024 is 6.1 percent. This projection indicates the expected economic growth for the country during this period.
8. Kargil Vijay Diwas observed on July 26
Every year on July 26, India observes Kargil Vijay Diwas to commemorate the success of ‘Operation Vijay’. This operation marked India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War against Pakistan, during which the Indian Armed Forces recaptured the strategic locations in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir.
