1. 2. Centre approves National Quantum Mission To boost the quantum technology industry, India’s central government has approved the National Quantum Mission. The mission aims to accelerate scientific research and development, benefiting sectors such as finance, health, and communications. It will also create intermediate-level quantum computers with 50 to 1,000 qubits.
3. World Liver Day raises awareness about liver diseases World Liver Day is observed on April 19 to raise awareness about liver diseases, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, jaundice, and fatty liver. Maintaining a healthy diet, exercising regularly, and avoiding alcohol, high-calorie foods, and sugary items can help maintain liver function.
4. Hybrid solar eclipse to occur on April 20 A hybrid solar eclipse, which creates a “ring of fire” effect, will occur on April 20, 2023. It will be visible in Australia and some Southeast Asian countries, but not in India. This phenomenon occurs once every ten years, with the partial phase starting around 7:04 IST and ending at 8:07 IST.
5. National missions to clean rivers The Jal Shakti Ministry introduced the Namami Gange Programme, a Clean Ganga mission, and several other missions. Clean Ganga will be implemented in multiple districts at a cost of Rs 638 crore, and the Hindon River Rejuvenation Programme will be implemented in the Saharanpur district, with four projects worth Rs 407 crore. Eight projects have been approved for Clean Ganga.
