The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with Prasar Bharati, has announced exciting news for all sports fans in India. Starting from June 2, 2024, Doordarshan will be broadcasting the T20 World Cup matches live from the West Indies and USA on the DD Free Dish platform.

Special Launch Event
The announcement was made by Shri Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, during a media interaction in New Delhi. Present at the event were Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Shri Sanjay Jaju, and Chairman of Prasar Bharati, Shri Navneet Kumar Sehgal. They unveiled a special anthem titled “Jazba” for the T20 World Cup, sung by the renowned Shri Sukhwinder Singh. Additionally, a promotional video narrated by the famous storyteller Shri Neelesh Misra was launched to build excitement for the event.

Doordarshan’s sports coverage will not stop at the T20 World Cup. Viewers can look forward to an impressive lineup of international sporting events, including:
- Paris Olympic Games 2024 (July 26 – August 11)
- Paris Paralympic Games 2024 (August 28 – September 8)
- India vs Zimbabwe Cricket Series (July 6 – July 11)
- India vs Sri Lanka Cricket Series (July 27 – August 7)
- French Open Finals 2024 (June 8 & 9)
- Wimbledon Finals 2024 (July 13 & 14)

Prasar Bharati has also partnered with leading global sports bodies like the NBA and PGTA to broadcast a variety of sports content on DD Sports. This includes the NBA 2K League matches, which are already being telecast on the channel. Negotiations are ongoing with other sports bodies to bring even more diverse sports content to Indian viewers.
