    • President Awards Distinguished Service Medals to Armed Forces Personnel: Defence Investiture Ceremony Phase-II
      • President Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred Distinguished Service Awards during the Defence Investiture Ceremony (Phase-II) in New Delhi on June 27, 2023. A total of 52 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals (AVSMs), one Bar to AVSM, three Uttam Yudh Seva Medals (UYSMs), and 28 Param Vishisht Seva Medals (PVSMs) were awarded to serving and retired personnel of the Armed Forces and the Indian Coast Guard for their distinguished service. The awardees included high-ranking officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
    • CGHS Beneficiaries Get Cashless Treatment at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry
      • Cashless treatment facilities will be available to CGHS beneficiaries at AIIMS New Delhi, PGIMER Chandigarh, and JIPMER Puducherry. A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between CGHS and the three institutes. This initiative eliminates the need for upfront payments and reimbursements, providing direct access to state-of-the-art treatment facilities. The government aims to expand the number of hospitals empaneled under CGHS to meet patient requirements. The agreement simplifies formalities, expands CGHS services nationwide, and revises treatment rates. The initiative includes cashless treatment in OPD, investigations, and indoor treatment, with credit bills raised by the institutions. CGHS beneficiaries can collect prescribed medicines and no longer require referrals for treatment at these institutions.
    • Directorate General of Resettlement Joins Forces with IBM to Boost Employment for Ex-Servicemen
      • The Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR) has signed an MoU with IBM to help ex-servicemen find employment in the private sector. The partnership aims to bridge the gap between military service and civilian jobs by identifying suitable candidates and providing them with recruitment, training, and upskilling opportunities. The DGR’s objective is to offer skilled manpower and a dignified second career to ex-servicemen. In the past year, over 24,000 ex-servicemen have found employment in various sectors. The DGR assists in the resettlement of approximately 60,000 retired service personnel each year.
    • India’s Defense Export Soars 6 Times in 9 Years: A Remarkable Turnaround under PM Modi’s Leadership
      • India has experienced a significant increase in the export of defense equipment, going from being an importer to an exporter in nine years. The acquisition involves the purchase of 51% of the Expanded Share Capital of TCNS Clothing Co. Limited by Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited is a listed company and part of the Aditya Birla conglomerate, while TCNS Clothing Co. Limited is engaged in the manufacturing, distribution, and sale of women’s apparel, jewellery, footwear, and beauty products. The detailed order of the CCI will be released soon.
    • Coal Ministry Receives 35 Bids for 7th Round of Commercial Coal Mine Auctions
      • The Ministry of Coal has received 35 bids for the 7th round of commercial coal mine auctions. The auctions, launched on March 29, 2023, received bids for 18 coal mines, with multiple bids for seven of them. The online bids will be opened on June 28, 2023, in New Delhi.

The launch of NANDI portal aligns with the Digital India mission and supports livestock health and well-being.     • India Extends Loan Disbursement Timeline for Ethanol Projects, Boosting Agri-Economy
      • The Indian government has extended the timeline for disbursement of loans for ethanol projects until September 30, 2023. This decision aims to boost the agricultural economy, reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels, save foreign exchange, and cut air pollution. The ethanol production capacity has reached a record high of 1,244 crore litres, with distilleries supplying over 310 crore liters of ethanol to oil market companies by June 11, 2023. The government provides financial assistance through interest subvention and will extend loans for five years with a one-year moratorium. The goal is to increase ethanol production and supply for the Ethanol Blended with Petrol (EBP) Programme, aiming for 20% blending by 2025.
