Successful candidates will receive a competitive salary as per the Pay Matrix-Level 2, ranging from 19900 to 63200. Additionally, they will be entitled to other admissible allowances.
4. Essential Qualifications: Driving and Mechanical Skills
To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following essential qualifications:
(i) Must have passed the 10th grade.
(ii) Proficient in Hindi and English languages.
(iii) Possess a valid driving license for both heavy and light vehicles, including hilly areas, with no adverse entries.
(iv) Knowledgeable in the general procedures of daily, weekly, and other types of vehicle maintenance. Capable of identifying and repairing defects in various components of petrol/diesel engines, lighting systems, suspension and steering systems, mechanical transmission systems, and hydraulic brake systems. Familiar with different lubricants and their specific uses.
(v) Adequate knowledge of fitting works and the duties of a Motor Mechanic.
5. Additional Desirable Qualifications
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are considered desirable for the Motor Driver-Cum Mechanic position:
(i) One year of experience working as a Motor Mechanic in a repair workshop or garage. (ii) Possession of a Certificate/Diploma in the automobile trade from a recognized institution.
G. Age Requirements
Applicants should be between 18 and 27 years old for the General category. SC/ST candidates can be up to 32 years old, and Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates can be up to 30 years old as of 31-05-2023. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable for retrenched Central Govt. employees, Departmental candidates, Ex-servicemen, and other eligible categories as per the rules.
7. Place of Work: Serving the Nation
The selected candidates will be liable to serve anywhere in the Union of India, including military service with a mobilized Survey unit. If required, candidates selected at Patna, Bengaluru, and Jaipur offices may be ordered to serve anywhere in India, including plain and hilly areas.
8. Selection Process: Driving Towards Success
The selection process for the Motor Driver-Cum Mechanic position will include the following steps:
(I) Eligible candidates will undergo a test and practical/skill test to assess their actual knowledge of motor driving and vehicle maintenance/repair. It is important to note that meeting the essential qualifications alone does not guarantee eligibility for the test and interview stage.
In case of a large number of applications, the Appointing Authority reserves the right to limit the number of candidates called for the test by applying appropriate criteria. The selection process, including the test and practical/skill test, may extend to approximately 2 days, and candidates are responsible for making their own arrangements for accommodation. The date of the selection test will be communicated directly to the candidates. As per the Government of India, there will be no interview process according to DoP&T’s OM No.39020/01/2013-Estt. (B) Part dated 29-12-15.

(i) One self-addressed envelope measuring 10×22 cm, affixed with a postal stamp worth Rs. 22/- (ii) Attested photocopies of educational qualifications, valid driving license, caste certificate, and date of birth certificate as supporting documents. (iii) Attested photocopies of experience certificates related to motor driving, vehicle repair work, and any certificate/diploma in the automobile trade, if applicable. (iv) Two passport-sized photographs of the candidate, duly attested by a Gazetted officer, with one photograph affixed to the application form.
Candidates who are currently serving in Central/State Government, public sector undertakings, or autonomous bodies financed by the Government of India must apply through the proper channel. They are also required to attach a “No Objection Certificate” from their current employer along with the application form.
10. Important Dates and Final Thoughts
The last date for submitting the duly filled application forms in the prescribed format is 31-05-2023.
