Ministry of Textiles Weekly Open House Forum for PLI Scheme Participants

The Ministry of Textiles conducted its first weekly Open House Forum through video conferencing (VC) to engage with participants of the ‘Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Textiles.’ The forum aims to address implementation issues and facilitate timely investment, production, and turnover for incentivization. Weekly sessions will be held every Friday from 4-5 PM, and the web link for interaction will be shared with all PLI participant companies on Thursday evenings.

The Network Planning Group under PM GatiShakti recommended five road connectivity projects during its 51st meeting. These projects, evaluated under 51 NPG meetings, are worth INR 5.39 Lakh Crores. The projects aim to improve connectivity to industrial clusters, social sector assets, and enhance logistics efficiency. The projects include a tunnel in Aizawl, Maharashtra’s capacity augmentation projects, Uttarakhand’s landslide mitigation measures, and the construction of bypass/ring roads around Kanpur. The meeting also discussed including slurry pipeline projects in the GatiShakti framework.

The PM GatiShakti National Master Plan adopts a comprehensive approach to infrastructure planning and implementation. The plan is based on a dynamic GIS platform and has onboarded several line Ministries/Departments and States/UTs. The institutional framework at the Central and State/UT levels is fully operational. The NPG meetings evaluate project proposals based on GatiShakti principles to ensure optimized and holistic planning for connectivity and logistics efficiency.

National Water Mission Partners with Indian Plumbing Association to Enhance Water Use Efficiency

The National Water Mission (NWM) and the Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) have signed an MoU to improve water use efficiency in India. The IPA will cooperate to reduce water use in the domestic sector by 50-60%, while the NWM aims to increase water use efficiency by 20%. Public Sector Banks Show Significant Improvement on Financial Parameters: Review by Union Finance Minister

The performance of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) has significantly improved on various financial parameters, including credit deployment, profitability, asset quality, and capital adequacy. During a review meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, PSB heads expressed confidence in their ability to withstand macroeconomic shocks due to the strong financial health of PSBs.

The asset quality of PSBs has improved, with gross non-performing assets (NPAs) at 4.97% and net NPAs at 1.24% in March 2023. PSBs earned a record net profit of around ₹1.05 lakh crore in FY 2022-23. With high capital adequacy, clean balance sheets, and improved resilience, PSBs are well positioned to support credit needs. The minister emphasized the importance of risk management and diversification of the banks’ business base. Meetings will be held to review the functioning of Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) and prioritize technological upgradation. There will also be a special drive to expand the coverage of PMSVANidhi, a credit outreach program.

IMD Reports 7% Deficit in All India Seasonal Rainfall; Northwest India Sees 37% Increase

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a 7% deficit in All India Seasonal cumulative rainfall during the current monsoon season. India excels in the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia Pacific’s Global Survey on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation, with a score of 93.55% in 2023 compared to 90.32% in 2021. Upcoming Weekly E-Auction: Wheat and Rice for Purchase by Retailers, Processors, and Traders on July 12, 2023

The third weekly e-auction for the purchase of wheat and rice is scheduled on July 12, 2023. Approximately 4.29 LMT of wheat from 482 depots and 3.95 LMT of rice from 254 depots will be offered. The Food Corporation of India aims to control retail prices by encouraging more participants, including small and marginal end users, to bid. In the previous e-auction, 1.29 LMT of wheat and 170 MT of rice were sold, with average selling prices slightly above the reserve prices. Bidders are required to declare their stock in the wheat stock management portal to participate. The current tranche of e-auctions aims to reduce retail prices by offering a maximum of 100 tons per buyer.
