What is the CBSE Budding Authors Program?
This exciting program aims to ignite a love for storytelling and writing in students. You can participate by writing and submitting an original short story in either Hindi or English. The best entries will be chosen for publication, giving you a chance to see your name in print and share your work with the world!
Who can participate?
The program is open to all students from classes 5 to 10. There’s no limit on the number of entries per school, so gather your friends and unleash your inner writing teams!
What are the categories?
There are three categories based on your grade level:
- Category I: Classes 5-6 (Word Limit: 500-600 words)
- Category II: Classes 7-8 (Word Limit: 600-900 words)
- Category III: Classes 9-10 (Word Limit: 1000-1500 words)
How to participate?
The registration process is happening online! Here’s a quick guide:
- Registration Period: April 5th – May 15th, 2024
- Visit: https://cbseacademic.nic.in/ under the Reading Mission Tab or click here.
- School Registration: A teacher will be nominated as the nodal officer to register students on the portal.
- Login Credentials: Each student will receive a unique ID and password upon registration.
- Workshops: Webinars on “Techniques of Writing” will be conducted for registered students in June by experts.
- Submission Period: July 1st – August 15th, 2024
- Submission Platform: The same CBSE Academic website under Reading Mission will have a link for submitting your stories.

Timeline For the CBSE Budding Authors Program 2024-25
Registration:
- Timeline: April 5th – May 15th, 2024
- Details: Schools are required to register their students for the CBSE Budding Authors Program via the CBSE Academic website. The registration link will be available under the Reading Mission Tab. Schools can nominate a teacher as a nodal officer for registering students. Each student will receive a unique login ID and password for the Budding Authors portal.
Online Workshops:
- Timeline: June 1st – June 30th, 2024
- Details: Webinars on “Techniques of Writing” will be organized for registered students by experts through Webex. The schedule and link will be shared via email. Students can develop and write their stories during the summer vacations.
Submission of Stories:
- Timeline: July 1st – August 15th, 2024
- Details: Students will use the unique ID and password provided by their schools to write and submit their stories on the technology platform. The submission link will be available on the CBSE Academic website under CBSE Reading Mission. Students can develop, edit, and submit their entries until August 15th, 2024. All students who successfully submit their stories will receive an online certificate of participation via their school’s email ID.
