CBSE Science Challenge: Overview and Details
The CBSE Science Challenge is a two-round competition that is open to all students of classes 8 to 10 in CBSE affiliated schools. The challenge will be available on the CBSE platform in the months of April – May, 2023.
Round One: Within School Challenge
The first round of the CBSE Science Challenge is conducted within the school premises. All eligible students can participate in this round, and there is no fee for participation. Schools are required to register their students for this round, and the details for registration are available in Annexure I.
Round Two: Inter School Challenge
The second round of the CBSE Science Challenge is an inter-school competition. The top 2 performing students from each participating class in Round One are eligible to represent their school in Round Two. Each affiliated school registered in the first stage can nominate up to 6 students for Round Two. The format and topics of the challenge paper are discussed in the next section.
Format and Topics of the Science Challenge Paper
The challenge paper for both rounds of the CBSE Science Challenge comprises a variety of stimulants followed by multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The questions are designed to test students’ knowledge, understanding, and application of scientific concepts related to the theme of Science, Environment, and Sustainability.
The paper is designed to focus on both speed and accuracy, and students are expected to complete it within the specified time limit. The questions are based on the CBSE syllabus for classes 8 to 10, and students are advised to prepare thoroughly for the challenge.
Eligibility Criteria and Registration Process
All students of classes 8 to 10 in CBSE affiliated schools are eligible to participate in Round One of the CBSE Science Challenge. Schools can register their students for this round by following the instructions provided in Annexure I.
Certificates and Awards
All participants in Round Two will receive an online participation certificate from the CBSE. Additionally, the best-performing students will be awarded appreciation certificates.
