    • Integration of Child Helpline with ERSS-112: Strengthening Child Protection Services Nationwide
      • The government has decided to integrate the Child Helpline with the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) as part of the “One Nation One Helpline” vision. This integration aims to ensure responsible and responsive administration for children, aid in repatriation and restoration of children in vulnerable situations, and strengthen the service delivery structures under the Juvenile Justice Act. The transition is underway, with the Childline being taken over in nine states and union territories. The Child Helpline will be operated in coordination with state and district functionaries and will be linked to the ERSS-112 helpline. The Ministry has issued guidelines and standard operating procedures for the implementation of Child Helpline services across the country.
    • ECI Publishes Draft Delimitation Proposal for Assam: Seats Reserved for SCs and STs Increased
      • The Election Commission of India has released a draft proposal for delimitation of Assembly and Parliamentary Constituencies in Assam. The proposal retains 126 Assembly seats and 14 Lok Sabha seats. The draft includes reserved seats for Scheduled Tribes (19 Assembly seats and 2 Parliamentary seats) and Scheduled Castes (9 Assembly seats and 1 Parliamentary seat). The proposal is based on the 2001 Census data, and the Commission will conduct a public hearing in July 2023. The draft considers factors such as population density, geographic features, and administrative units in the delimitation process. Various suggestions and objections were received during the Commission’s visit to Assam earlier this year.
    • NHPC Shines at ICOLD 2023: Leading Hydropower Developer Presents Groundbreaking Papers on Dam Safety and Rehabilitation
      • NHPC, India’s largest hydropower development organization, participated in the 91st Annual Meeting of ICOLD 2023 in Sweden. He has held significant positions in the government and was previously serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.     • EPFO Adds 17.2k New Members in April, Majority in 18-25 Age Group
      • EPFO added 17.2k net members in April, an increase from 13.4k in March. About 8.47k new members joined the social security coverage for the first time. The majority of the new members, 54.15%, were in the 18-25 age group, indicating that they were first-time job seekers joining the organized sector workforce.

The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister expressed the desire for Indian investment in Iraq.     • BIS Implements Mandatory License for 24 Footwear Products from July 1, 2023
      • The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) will require a license for 24 footwear products starting from July 1, 2023. The license is mandatory for manufacturing, importing, or selling these products under quality control orders. The standards for footwear products are developed in consultation with various stakeholders to ensure quality and authenticity. The government has announced a reduced testing charge for certified start-ups and micro industrial units. Certain manufacturers have been given an extended compliance deadline.     • Fit India Quiz State Rounds: Exciting Journey Towards Fitness and Knowledge Continues!
      • The State Round episodes of the 2nd Fit India Quiz will continue until July 2023, with a total of 84 episodes being streamed on Fit India’s Facebook and YouTube handles. The quiz aims to promote fitness among school children and is supported by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. The quiz has seen a massive participation of over 61,000 students from schools across India, offering a cash prize of ₹3.25 crore.
