National Green Tribunal: 5 Years of Innovative Environmental Justice Initiatives

Mr. Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel completed his 5-year tenure as Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). During his term, he introduced innovative and people-friendly methods for providing environmental justice. NGT implemented various initiatives to simplify procedures, improve efficiency, and ensure faster disposal of cases. These initiatives included video conferencing, special benches for complex cases, court and case management strategies, and the use of technology.

NGT also took suo motu interventions to address environmental degradation and accidents violating safety norms. The tribunal opened its doors to common people through letter petitions, monitored the rejuvenation of Yamuna and Ganga rivers, and made significant interventions in waste management.
