1.1 Nepal PM Prachanda’s Four-Day Visit to India: Strengthening Bilateral Ties
Nepal’s Prime Minister Prachanda will visit India from May 31 to June 3, 2023. It will be his first international visit since taking office. He will meet with PM Modi and other leaders to enhance bilateral relations. The visit includes meetings, talks, a business summit, and interactions with the Nepali community in India. The trip signifies the importance both countries place on strengthening their partnership.

The ‘Divya Kala Shakti’ Program in Varanasi showcased the talents of disabled artists. Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal praised their exceptional performances, and the event was attended by dignitaries and various organizations. The program aims to empower persons with disabilities and promote inclusivity.
1.3 Highlights of Second G20 Anti-corruption Meeting: Achievements, Gender and Corruption, and Next Steps
The Second G20 Anti-corruption Working Group Meeting, held in Rishikesh, concluded after productive discussions on various topics such as asset recovery, cooperation for combating corruption, and mutual legal assistance. The delegates agreed upon three high-level principles related to integrity, law enforcement cooperation, and asset recovery mechanisms. A side event on “Gender and Corruption” was also held, emphasizing the importance of women’s empowerment in anti-corruption efforts. India will host the next ACWG meeting in Kolkata and the first-ever in-person Anti Corruption Ministerial Meeting to further strengthen the global fight against corruption.

2.1 Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy Marks 100th Anniversary with Logo Launch
The Assistant High Commission of India in Kandy celebrated its 100th anniversary by launching a special logo. The logo incorporates the colors and national symbols of both India and Sri Lanka. The High Commissioner expressed gratitude for the support provided by Sri Lanka and emphasized the significance of 2023, which marks the centenary of the commission’s establishment, 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Sri Lanka, and 200 years since the arrival of Indian Origin Tamils in Sri Lanka. The commission was initially established in 1923 to support Indian migrant laborers in Sri Lanka’s tea plantations and was later renamed the Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy.
2.2 India-Saudi Arabia Bilateral Maritime Exercise ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’: Successful Interoperability and Professionalism Displayed
India and Saudi Arabia conducted the second edition of the bilateral maritime exercise ‘Al Mohed Al Hindi 23’. The exercise involved the Indian Navy and the Royal Saudi Naval Force (RSNF), with INS Tarkash, INS Subhadra, and Dornier Maritime Patrol aircraft participating from the Indian side. The exercise included various maritime operations and concluded with a debrief at sea and a traditional steam past. The exercise demonstrated professionalism, interoperability, and the exchange of best practices between the two navies. Both sides plan to advance to more complex exercises in future editions.
2.3 India-EU Cooperation in Clean Energy: Energy Access, Storage, and Green Hydrogen in Focus
India’s Power and New & Renewable Energy Minister, R. K. Singh, met with the EU delegation to discuss cooperation in clean energy and climate action. They agreed to work on providing energy access to energy-poor populations. Singh emphasized the need to expand manufacturing facilities for energy storage to reduce costs. He also highlighted the importance of free and open trade for the journey to green hydrogen.
The EU appreciated India’s leadership in renewable energy and proposed setting global energy efficiency targets. Both sides discussed collaboration in grid-scale battery storage and the International Solar Alliance’s role in bringing solar energy to Africa. They agreed to establish a partnership to address energy access issues in Africa. The European Green Deal aims to achieve no net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050 and inclusive economic growth.

3.1 Chitkara and SRM Win Khelo India University Games Table Tennis Titles
Chitkara University and SRM University emerged as winners in the Khelo India University Games 2022 table tennis finals. Chitkara defeated Chandigarh University 3-0, while SRM triumphed over Adamas University by the same score. The South team made significant progress, displacing the previous champions from the East. Yashansh Malik, Jeet Chandra, and Wesley Do Rosario delivered strong performances for Chitkara, while V. Kowshika and Kavyashree Baskar stood out for SRM. The ceremony was attended by Girish Yadav, UP’s Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs.
3.2 HS Prannoy advances to Malaysia Masters men’s singles final, PV Sindhu eliminated in semifinals
HS Prannoy advances to Malaysia Masters men’s singles final after opponent withdraws due to injury. PV Sindhu eliminated in women’s singles semifinals by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia.
