Jharkhand’s Weightlifting Star Babulal Hembrom Bags Two Bronze Medals at World Youth Championship!
Jharkhand’s Babulal Hembrom, a trainee under the Jharkhand State Sports Promotion Society (JSSPS), has clinched a glorious double victory at the ongoing IWF World Youth Weightlifting Championship in Lima, Peru. Babulal, competing in the 49 kg weight category, impressed everyone by securing bronze medals in both the Snatch and Clean & Jerk categories.
The Snatch category involves lifting the weight from the platform to overhead in one smooth motion, while the Clean & Jerk requires lifting the weight in two stages: first to the shoulders and then overhead. Babulal’s success is a testament to his dedication and the quality training provided by JSSPS.
JSSPS, backed by Central Coal Fields Ltd (CCL), is a program dedicated to nurturing sporting talent in India’s coal-bearing states. It offers training facilities and education to around 500 aspiring athletes at its prestigious Ranchi campus. Babulal’s achievement is a shining example of the program’s effectiveness and serves as a major boost to weightlifting in Jharkhand.
This victory is also being seen as a big win for the Coal Ministry’s efforts to promote sports culture in these regions. The Ministry’s commitment doesn’t stop here – there are plans to set up “Centers of Excellence in Sports” across all seven CCL subsidiaries under their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative. This will further strengthen India’s sporting infrastructure and provide even more opportunities for talented youngsters like Babulal.
So, here’s a big cheer for Babulal Hembrom! His success is an inspiration to all aspiring weightlifters and a validation of the hard work being done by JSSPS and the Coal Ministry.
