Ministry of Commerce & Industry Launches NIPAM: Equipping Students and Teachers with Intellectual Property Knowledge

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, has launched a new initiative called the National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM). This program aims to equip students and teachers across India with foundational knowledge of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and ignite their innovative spirit.

What is NIPAM?

NIPAM is a nationwide program designed to:

  • Skilling Students and Teachers: Provide basic training on IPR to both students and educators.
  • Fostering Creativity: Encourage students to embrace their creative potential.
  • Promoting Innovation: Inspire students to innovate and protect their inventions.

How Does NIPAM Work?

Schools across India can participate in NIPAM by following these simple steps:

  1. School Registration: Head to https://www.yuvamanthan.org/nipam and register your school for the program.
  2. Student and Teacher Onboarding: After registration, a unique link will be provided on the school dashboard. Use this link to invite students and teachers to join the program.
  3. IP Innovation Club: Encourage students to join the “IP Innovation Club.” This club fosters entrepreneurial thinking and helps students hone their innovative instincts.
  4. E-Learning Modules: Students can access comprehensive e-modules on the NIPAM website to gain in-depth knowledge about Intellectual Property.
  5. Digital Certificate Course: Both students and teachers can enroll in a basic digital certificate course offered by NIPAM.
  6. Viksit Bharat E-Pledge: Inspire students to take the e-pledge for “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) at https://www.yuvamanthan.org/nipam.

Why is NIPAM Important?

By equipping students with knowledge of IPR, NIPAM empowers them to:

  • Protect their ideas and creations: Understand how patents, copyrights, and trademarks safeguard their intellectual property.
  • Become future innovators: Develop the skills and knowledge to translate innovative ideas into reality.
  • Contribute to a thriving knowledge economy: Play a vital role in India’s growth as a nation driven by creativity and innovation.
