National Career Service (NCS) Records Over 35 Lakh Vacancies in 2022-23

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has been implementing the National Career Service (NCS) Project as a Mission Mode Project for the transformation of the National Employment Service. The NCS portal provides a variety of employment-related services such as job matching, career counseling, vocational guidance, information on skill development courses, and internships. All the services available on the NCS portal are free of cost for all stakeholders, including job seekers, employers, training providers, and placement organizations.

The NCS portal has recorded the highest number of vacancies since its launch in July 2015, with 35.7 lakh vacancies reported in 2022-23, an increase of 175% compared to the previous year. The Finance and Insurance sector showed a phenomenal growth of over 800%, with 20.8 lakh vacancies in 2022-23 compared to 2.2 lakh vacancies in 2021-22. Similarly, the vacancies in the Operations and Support sector have grown by 400% with 3.75 lakh vacancies reported in 2022-23 against 76 thousand in 2021-22. Other sectors such as Hotels, Food Service and Catering, Manufacturing, Health, and Education also recorded a significant increase in vacancies during 2022-23.

Furthermore, the NCS portal has achieved a milestone of registering over 1 million employers since its launch, with more than 8 lakh employers registered in 2022-23. The maximum employer registrations were from the Service sector (6.5 lakh), followed by the employers from the Manufacturing sector. This signifies the growing popularity and usefulness of the NCS portal for job seekers and employers alike.
