Ravichandran Ashwin Becomes India’s 2nd Highest Wicket-Taker in International Cricket

Ravichandran Ashwin Claims 12 Wickets in Dominant Win over West Indies

Ravichandran Ashwin became India’s second-highest wicket-taker in international cricket on Saturday, claiming 12 wickets in a dominant win over West Indies in the first Test in Dominica.

The off-spinner took 5-60 in the first innings and 7-71 in the second as India bowled out the West Indies for just 130 in their second innings to win by an innings and 92 runs.

Ashwin’s 12 wickets took his tally to 709, moving him past Harbhajan Singh into second place on India’s all-time list. Only Anil Kumble, with 953 wickets, has taken more wickets for India.

Ashwin’s performance was one of the highlights of a comprehensive Indian victory. Rohit Sharma scored 103 and Yashasvi Jaiswal made 171 as India scored 421-5 in their first innings.

The West Indies were never in the hunt in their second innings, as Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ran through their batting lineup.

With this victory, India extended their unbeaten streak in the Caribbean to 14 Tests. They will look to continue their dominance in the second Test, which starts in Port of Spain on Friday.
