Selection Process

The selection process for the Engineer Trainee position at THDCIL consists of the following stages:

1. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2022: Eligible candidates must have appeared for GATE-2022 in the corresponding paper for their desired discipline (Civil Engineering for ET Civil, Electrical Engineering for ET Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering for ET Mechanical). Shortlisting will be based on GATE-2022 scores.
2. Normalization and Merit Preparation: If two candidates have the same GATE-2022 score, the marks obtained in the essential qualification examination (Engineering Degree) will be considered. If these marks are also the same, marks in class XII and class X, and finally, the date of birth will be taken into consideration to prepare the merit list.
3. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. The final selection will be based on the combined score of GATE-2022 (70%) and the performance in the personal interview (30%).

Compensation Package

THDCIL offers an attractive compensation package for selected candidates:

• During the training period as Engineer Trainee (E-2 Grade), candidates will receive a minimum basic pay of Rs. 50,000.00 in the pay scale of Rs. 50,000 – 3% – 1,60,000 (IDA).
• After successful completion of training, candidates will be absorbed as Senior Engineers (E-3 Grade) with a pay scale of Rs. 60,000 – 3% – 1,80,000 (IDA).
• Additional benefits include Dearness Allowance, leave, medical treatment, Provident Fund, Pension, Gratuity, and other perquisites and allowances as per company rules.
