Find Out at Ministry of Education’s Session on the occasion of Civil Services Day
The Ministry of Education, in conjunction with the Department of School Education and Literacy, organized a session during the Civil Service Day celebrations on 20 April 2023. The chosen theme was “Improving the Quality of Education – Improving Outcomes through of Education Assessment Centers”. Industry experts, government agency representatives and professors attended the event, which took place at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi.
Ministry of Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar mentioned that India has a diverse student population with over 26 crore students spread across different schools and socio-economic backgrounds. To serve this population effectively, it is necessary to have policies that prepare students for the 21st century, keeping them connected with their values and roots. The 2020 National Education Policy is the ideal way to achieve these goals.
During the event, participants highlighted the importance of monitoring and tracking learning outcomes through Education Assessment Centers (VSK). Digitizing this process will allow for a revolution in the education system, helping every child reach their full potential. Participants were optimistic about improved learning outcomes for all children across the country.
In addition, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on school education and the poor performance of students, diagnosed through systematic assessments such as the NAS, was highlighted. These evaluations are essential to understand the effectiveness of implemented interventions.
Experts and representatives from different bodies also shared their experiences in improving the quality of education in their respective regions. Topics such as teacher training, strategic implementation of the National Education Policy and real-time monitoring through VSK were addressed.
At the event, question and answer sessions were also held, in which representatives of different organizations participated actively and had their doubts clarified by the specialists present.
