CBSE Announces ‘Fit India Week’ 2023 Encouraging Health and Fitness Amongst Students

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, has issued a Circular (Acad-130/2023) to all Heads of Schools affiliated to CBSE regarding the upcoming ‘Fit India Week’ program.

The Fit India Week, aligned with the Fit India Movement, aims to highlight the significance of health and fitness among students, parents, and teachers. Scheduled to run from November 15, 2023, to December 15, 2023, the program encourages schools to allocate a week at their convenience during this period to organize a variety of sports and fitness activities.

The suggested activities for the Fit India Week include:

  1. Annual Sports Day
  2. Importance of Fitness: Debate, Quiz, Essay Writing Competition, Poster Making Competition
  3. Indigenous Games
  4. Fitness Assessment through the Fit India Mobile App
  5. Yoga and Meditation
  6. Fitness Pledge by teachers, students, and parents

Schools are requested to upload a concise report detailing the activities conducted during the ‘Fit India Week’ using the provided link: Report Submission Link. The submission deadline for these reports is December 20, 2023.

Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, Director (Academics) at CBSE, encourages schools to actively participate in the ‘Fit India Week’ and urges the engagement of all stakeholders to make this celebration a resounding success.

The Circular has been disseminated to various educational bodies and institutions for widespread dissemination among schools under their jurisdiction. It has been forwarded to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), Sainik Schools Society, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, Directorate of Education for various states and Union Territories, and other educational authorities.

This initiative signifies CBSE’s commitment to promoting holistic well-being among students, fostering a culture of fitness, and encouraging active participation in physical activities for a healthier future.
