Recognizing its significance in fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has unveiled the CBSE Science Challenge 2024-25.
Scheduled to take place from April to May 2024, the CBSE Science Challenge aims to ignite curiosity, encourage inquiry, and promote higher-order thinking among students from classes 8th to 10th. With a thematic focus on Science, Environment, and Sustainability, this initiative endeavors to instill a sense of responsibility towards our planet and its resources.
Key Details of the CBSE Science Challenge:
- Two Rounds: The challenge will be conducted in two rounds – within school and inter-school competitions.
- Free Participation: There is no fee for students participating in either stage of this enriching activity.
- Eligibility: All students from classes 8 to 10 in CBSE affiliated schools are eligible to participate in Round One. Schools are required to register students for this round. For Round Two, each affiliated school can nominate six students, selecting the top two performers from each participating class in the first round.
- Challenge Format: The Science challenge paper will include various stimuli followed by multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Participants will be evaluated based on both speed and accuracy.
- Recognition: Participants in Round Two will receive online participation certificates from the Board, while the best performers will be awarded Appreciation Certificates.
- Registration: Schools can register for the challenge through the Science Challenge Portal. Details for registration are provided in Annexure – 1.
Schedule of the CBSE Science Challenge 2024-25:
Round One (First Stage):
- Schools are required to register the number of participating students on the Science Challenge Portal from April 10th to April 19th, 2024.
- On April 22nd, 2024, the Science Challenge paper with MCQs and scoring criteria will be made available to registered schools.
- Schools will conduct the challenge for registered students between April 22nd to April 26th, 2024, and nominate six students based on their performance.
- Identified students for Round Two must be registered on the CBSE Science Challenge portal between April 29th to May 7th, 2024.

Round Two (Second Stage):
- A computer-based Science Challenge will be conducted by the Board for registered students between May 13th to May 17th, 2024.
- Only schools that have completed the first stage and registered students for Round Two will be eligible for the second stage.
