The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) has released the official notification for the Himachal Pradesh State Eligibility Test (HP SET) 2023. The HP SET is a prestigious examination for candidates aiming to become Assistant Professors in universities and colleges. Below are the details of the HP SET 2023 notification.

Eligibility:
The candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria for HP SET 2023:
- General / Unreserved / General-EWS candidates should have secured at least 55% marks in their Master’s Degree.
- For candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PWD categories, a minimum of 50% marks in their Master’s Degree is required.
- Candidates pursuing their Master’s degree, awaiting their final year results, or facing delays in the qualifying examinations can also apply provisionally.
Conditions of Eligibility:
- Ph.D. degree holders are exempt from NET/SET eligibility for the position of Assistant Professor.
- The SET-qualified candidates are eligible to apply for Assistant Professor positions in universities and colleges within Himachal Pradesh.
Application Fees:
Candidates are required to pay application fees as follows:
- General: Rs. 1150/-
- General-EWS/Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) of H.P.: Rs. 600/-
- SC of H.P., ST of H.P., BPL (General BPL/SC BPL/ST BPL of H.P., PWD (General PWD/S.C. PWD/S.T. PWD, OBC PWD) of H.P. & EWS BPL of H.P.: Rs. 325/-
Scheme/Pattern of Test:
The HP SET will consist of two papers, Paper-I and Paper-II. The details are as follows:
- Paper-I (General Awareness): 100 marks, 50 questions, 1 hour
- Paper-II (Concerned Subject): 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours
Syllabus of Test:

How to Apply:
Candidates can apply for HP SET 2023 by visiting the official HPPSC website and clicking on the “Apply Online” link. General Instructions:
- The candidate must read the conditions of eligibility and satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility for the test before filling the online application.
- No further opportunity will be given for document uploads after submitting the online application.
- The medium of question papers shall be in English and Hindi except for language papers and Computer Science.
- Candidates should ensure that their signatures and photographs are identical in all documents.
- Candidates are not allowed to bring calculators, log tables, mobile phones, or electronic devices to the examination hall.
- No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall until the allotted time is completed.
- There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- Results will be available on the HPPSC website.
- All legal disputes related to this test will fall within the jurisdiction of Shimla, H.P. courts.
