Export Preparedness Index 2022: Promoting India’s Global Export Potential

The NITI Aayog has released the third edition of the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2022 for States/UTs in India. The report aims to promote India’s global export potential by recognizing regional competitiveness and leveraging diversity. It provides insights for decision-making, identifies strengths and weaknesses, and fosters comprehensive growth across states and UTs. The index evaluates export preparedness based on policy, business ecosystem, export ecosystem, and export performance pillars, along with ten sub-pillars. Coastal states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat performed well in the index. The report encourages states to improve their business and export ecosystems, invest in research and development, and explore new markets to enhance their global footprint. It also fosters competitive federalism and peer-learning among states.

Government of India Announces Auction for Sale of 7.17% GS 2030, New GS 2037, and 7.25% GS 2063

The Government of India (GoI) plans to auction three government securities: ‘7.17% GS 2030,’ ‘New GS 2037,’ and ‘7.25% GS 2063.’ The auctions will be conducted by the Reserve Bank of India on July 21, 2023. The securities will be allotted to eligible individuals and institutions, and both competitive and non-competitive bids should be submitted electronically. The auction results will be announced on July 21, 2023, with payment due on July 24, 2023. The securities will be eligible for “When Issued” trading as per the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India.

The meeting focused on reviewing administrative arrangements for the G20 Summit in New Delhi on September 9th and 10th. All agencies were urged to work together to ensure the success of the summit. Dry runs and mock exercises will be conducted at the summit venue to facilitate seamless cooperation among different agencies.

Department of Consumer Affairs’ Chintan Shivir: Launch of Bharat Dal Sale & Channa Promotion Campaigns

The Department of Consumer Affairs conducted a Chintan Shivir to review work and develop an action plan for implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vision 2047.” Shri Piyush Goyal launched the ‘Bharat Dal Sale Campaign’ and ‘Channa Promotion Campaign’ as part of the AatmaNirbhar Bharat initiative. Global Food Regulators Summit 2023: Enhancing Food Safety and Collaboration

The Global Food Regulators Summit 2023, organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), will take place in Delhi on 20th and 21st July. Over 40 countries’ food regulators, along with representatives from international organizations and research institutes, will participate. In May, over 2 million new employees joined the Employees’ State Insurance Scheme. Approximately 24,886 new establishments were registered during this period. Among the new registrations, the majority were individuals aged 25 and below, accounting for 9.40 lakh employees. Moreover, around 3.96 lakh female members and 71 transgender employees also enrolled in the scheme.

The NITI Aayog announced that over 130 million people in India have been lifted out of poverty between 2015-16 and 2019-21, according to the National Multidimensional Poverty Index. The index shows a decline in multidimensional poverty from 24.85 percent to 14.96 percent during this period. The report highlights the progress in reducing poverty in rural areas, with a decrease from 32.59 percent to 19.28 percent. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh have experienced the highest declines in poverty. Factors such as nutrition, education, sanitation, and cooking fuel have contributed to the reduction in poverty. The National Multidimensional Poverty Index provides a comprehensive assessment of poverty at different levels, guiding reform plans for states and districts. India is on track to achieve Sustainable Development Goals target 1.2 ahead of schedule.

Vande Bharat Train Fire Near Bina: All Passengers Safe, Efforts Underway to Extinguish Fire

A fire broke out in a coach of the Vande Bharat train near Bina, Madhya Pradesh. The fire started with the battery and all 36 passengers were safely evacuated. The fire brigade is currently working to extinguish the fire.
