Export Preparedness Index 2022: Promoting India’s Global Export Potential
The NITI Aayog has released the third edition of the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2022 for States/UTs in India. The report aims to promote India’s global export potential by recognizing regional competitiveness and leveraging diversity. It provides insights for decision-making, identifies strengths and weaknesses, and fosters comprehensive growth across states and UTs. The index evaluates export preparedness based on policy, business ecosystem, export ecosystem, and export performance pillars, along with ten sub-pillars. Coastal states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat performed well in the index. The report encourages states to improve their business and export ecosystems, invest in research and development, and explore new markets to enhance their global footprint. It also fosters competitive federalism and peer-learning among states.
Government of India Announces Auction for Sale of 7.17% GS 2030, New GS 2037, and 7.25% GS 2063
The Government of India (GoI) plans to auction three government securities: ‘7.17% GS 2030,’ ‘New GS 2037,’ and ‘7.25% GS 2063.’ The auctions will be conducted by the Reserve Bank of India on July 21, 2023. The securities will be allotted to eligible individuals and institutions, and both competitive and non-competitive bids should be submitted electronically. The auction results will be announced on July 21, 2023, with payment due on July 24, 2023. The securities will be eligible for “When Issued” trading as per the guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India.

The report highlights the progress in reducing poverty in rural areas, with a decrease from 32.59 percent to 19.28 percent. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh have experienced the highest declines in poverty. Factors such as nutrition, education, sanitation, and cooking fuel have contributed to the reduction in poverty. The National Multidimensional Poverty Index provides a comprehensive assessment of poverty at different levels, guiding reform plans for states and districts. India is on track to achieve Sustainable Development Goals target 1.2 ahead of schedule.
