UPSC Declares Final Results of Indian Forest Service Examination, 2023

In a recent announcement made by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on May 8, 2024, the final results of the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2023 have been disclosed. The rigorous selection process involved a written examination conducted from November 26 to December 3, 2023, followed by interviews for the Personality Test held from April 22 to May 1, 2024.

A total of 147 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various posts in the Indian Forest Service. These candidates represent diverse categories, including General, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST). The distribution of recommended candidates among these categories is as follows:

  • General: 43 candidates (including 1 PwBD-3)
  • EWS: 20 candidates (including 1 PwBD-3)
  • OBC: 51 candidates (including 2 PwBD-2)
  • SC: 22 candidates
  • ST: 11 candidates (including 1 PwBD-2)

It is noteworthy that there are 3 current vacancies of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), comprising 2 PwBD-1 and 1 PwBD-3, which will be carried forward to the next recruitment year due to the non-availability of suitable candidates.

The appointments will be made by the Government based on the number of vacancies available and subject to the candidates fulfilling all the prescribed eligibility conditions and provisions as per the examination rules. The total number of vacancies reported by the Government are as follows:

  • General: 62
  • EWS: 15
  • OBC: 40
  • SC: 22
  • ST: 11
  • Total: 150 (including 8 PwBD vacancies – 3 PwBD-1, 2 PwBD-2, and 3 PwBD-3)

The candidature of 51 recommended candidates is provisional, identified by specific Roll Numbers. These candidates are advised to undergo further verification processes to ensure their eligibility for appointment.
